Our History
The history of ETL is the story of consistently building an alternative to the largest advisory firms — one that is closer to the client, more flexible, and genuinely supportive of business growth.
It all began in 1971, when Franz-Josef Wernze founded a tax advisory firm in Germany that was built from the start on a different approach: combining tax, legal and business expertise in one place.
Over time, this model grew into an extensive group of advisory firms operating under the ETL brand. A key milestone was the creation of the international ETL GLOBAL platform in 2015 — opening a new stage of growth and cross-border cooperation.
Today, ETL represents more than 50 years of experience and growth built on a single idea: to stay close to the client, regardless of the scale of their business.
